SENIOR DATA ENGINEER

DESCRIPTION

PatientPay is seeking to hire a Data Engineer, in a newly added position, to join its rapidly growing business. By leveraging modern cloud-based technologies, PatientPay offers unmatched user experience and results for its customers. In this role, you will be part of an Agile/Scrum team that is responsible for designing, building, and shipping commercial software at scale.  This includes designing, documenting, coding, and testing complex solutions that exceed user expectations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Database Design and Development: Design and develop database schemas and data models to ensure efficient data storage and retrieval for reporting.

  • ETL Processes: Build and maintain Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes to move and transform data from various sources into our reporting databases.

  • Data Integration: Integrate data from various sources, including databases, APIs, and flat files, to create a unified data ecosystem.

  • Data Warehousing: Manage data warehousing solutions to store and organize data for reporting and analytics.

  • SQL Expertise: Write and optimize complex SQL queries for data extraction and reporting, ensuring performance and data accuracy.

  • Data Quality: Implement data quality checks and validation procedures to ensure the accuracy and integrity of the data.

  • Performance Tuning: Monitor and optimize the performance of database systems and ETL processes to ensure efficient data processing.

  • Data Security: Implement and maintain data security and access controls to protect sensitive information.

  • Reporting Support: Collaborate with data analysts and report developers to understand their requirements and provide them with well-structured data for reporting.

  • Documentation: Create and maintain documentation for data pipelines, database schemas, and data processes.

  • Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve data-related issues and errors, providing technical support to resolve data problems as they arise.

  • Stay Current: Keep up-to-date with industry best practices, emerging technologies, and tools related to data engineering and reporting.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).

  • Proven experience as a Data Engineer or a similar role, with a focus on reporting.

  • Proficiency in SQL with the ability to write complex queries.

  • Strong database design and data modeling skills.

  • Experience with ETL tools and processes like Airflow.

  • Familiarity with data warehousing and data integration techniques.

  • Knowledge of database management systems (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, Mongo).

  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

  • Attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy and quality.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

  • Experience with reporting tools and business intelligence platforms (e.g., Tableau, Power

    BI, or Looker) is a plus.

  • Knowledge of programming languages (e.g., Python) is a plus.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with AWS cloud technologies and Jenkins.

  • Experience in FinTech and payment processing.
